Abstract
This novel is an interrogation into the intersections of femininity, violence, and mythologies of power, presented through the lens of a young woman. Marin, newly seventeen, is plunged into a world of magic, in which she is forced to confront the ethics of revenge and the intricacies of her own developing sexuality. Based partly in Celtic and European legends of mermaids, sirens, and selkies, this project aims to reclaim, rejoice in, and transform age-old narratives of the body and desire.
