The Macalester College Oral History Project was started in January of 2007 under the auspices of the DeWitt Wallace Library, the College Archives, and Media Services. The project aims to collect a multiplicity of perspectives on the history of Macalester and the people and events who have made the College what it is. These interviews provide a permanent record of the stories and memories of individual Macalester community members, and engage with, enhance, and contrast official college records in the Archives.
Oral History Interviews to date have primarily been conducted with emeritus faculty, but also include: former Trustees, administrators, and staff; newly tenured faculty; and alumni. This project is ongoing and aims to collect a wider variety of perspectives and broader cross-section of the Mac community.
