Perfection is Overrated: Google Apps as the UMN Libraries Intranet
Description
This session describes the benefits and limitations of using Google Apps for Education to handle a large academic library's intranet. The University of Minnesota Libraries use Google Drive for document storage, Google Sites for web content and Google Groups to manage permissions for both Drive and Sites. Google Apps for Education integrates with any additional services that might still be in use, suits collaborative work patterns and may be implemented without additional resources. However, it also requires a deep understanding of an institutions' workflows and a willingness to adapt, at least a little, to Google's way of working.
