Streamlining recommendations for purchase with Coldfusion
Description
Managing collection recommendations made by patrons was taking our staff too much time. To manage this process, the Rochester Public Library wrote a custom Coldfusion program that utilizes Amazon Web Services. With our recommend to purchase program, the library is able to limit the number of requests, capture accurate material information, reduce recommendations of items we already have, and inform the patron of the selector's decision. We will discuss some of the technology utilized in this project as well as how this program has affected both staff and patrons.
