This paper was the Natural Sciences Division winner of the Gateway Prize for Excellent Writing in the Spring term of 2013. The paper was written for Scott Legge's Darwin and Evolutionary Thought course in the Fall of 2012.

Abstract

A lightening rod for controversy, Richard Dawkins has made a career out of comparing himself to Charles Darwin, author of the theory of natural selection. This paper discusses the truth of these claims. By imagining a conversation between these two scientific giants, the true similarities and differences between Dawkins and Darwin come to light, and the importance of Dawkins' role as Darwin's champion today is revealed.
