Description

Waiting for the squirmy student to settle down before having the class start the search activity? Trying to get that small-group table of students to work together instead of separately? How do you encourage that student who started the activity and is now staring blankly at the screen? All of these students could be the brightest and most creative students you have…but they may be too challenged by the busy web interface, by the level of noise, or by the large number of social interactions in the room to complete the assignment you have given them. Our information literacy instruction can often miss students with special needs, who may find it difficult to follow our instruction and may also find themselves unable to easily interact with our databases and online tools. Theresa Borchert and Virginia Connell from Concordia College, Moorhead will provide practical and logistical advice to help make your collections and your instruction more accessible for students in your classes, helping your students bridge the gap by building life-long learning skills.
