Mastering Our Own Domain: The Power of LibGuides

Description

In any library environment there’s always a struggle to put timely content on your web site and having IT or library staff willing and able to implement the changes. We needed to find a solution that would give us the power and ability to do this on our own and made it easy enough for any library staff person to contribute. Our session will describe how we came to choose LibGuides, which is an inexpensive, easily accessible, web-based tool that all types of libraries could consider. We will cover how and why we decided to expand our implementation from just subject guides to encompassing our entire library web site. We will explain how we coordinated everyone (public and technical services) in the library to plan and execute the migration of our existing web content to the new site. We will demonstrate easy-to-use features for building subject guides, pages describing library services, and any other kind of library content. We will highlight tips & tricks to enhance your user’s experience and to create a professional product. We will talk about our plans for the future of our new web site and how we can use the features of LibGuides to the fullest extent.
