Maag library has been the campus leader at YSU in the adoption of open-source software for information-based services. Our in-depth experience with DSpace institutional repository software, and Wordpress blog software have played a very important role in the advancement of Library and University services and in our understanding of opportunities for both innovative services and software development. This year, we explored the use an open source content management system, Drupal, for the development of the Library's web-based 2.0 services. At the same time our University is moving forward to deploy a commercial content management system. This presentation will guide the audience through the various questions and options surrounding local vs. university-wide services as well as commercial vs. open-source solutions.
