Using technology to be creative; when managing labbies and computer support becomes part of the mix.

Description

After the renovation of the library in 2006, the systems department took over management of the general purpose academic computer labs with the formation of the "commons" that absorbed the main campus computer lab. Now we train and manage the computer lab assistants (labbies) who were physically moved from a room hidden inside the computer lab to the front lines at the information desk. Hear how we have used technological solutions for training, communication, motivation, and support. What are the challenges? What has worked, what hasn’t worked? Where do we go from here?
