Alec Sonsteby, Concordia College

Information

A lot has happened since librarian and blogger Karen Schneider published her manifesto "How OPACs Suck" in 2006. Two years later, the Consortium of MnPALS Libraries launched MnPALS Plus, a new Web 2.0 catalog interface based on the open source project VuFind. In this session, learn the basics of the VuFind project; information about the Consortium's implementation, adoption, and usability testing of VuFind; the strengths and weaknesses of the public interface; and more. The emphasis of this session will be on the user experience and the public services perspective.
